I love to travel.I always have and even as I grew older, that desire did not wane rather it grew. The problem with having such a voracious appetite for travelling is that it needs funding. You have to move from one place to another and in some countries or even counties, it seems each step taken is paid for! Anyway, I had to learn somewhere down the line to look for means of slicing and dicing my budget in order to accommodate the adventure. Considering the fact that air travel is the most popular means of movement within and across borders, it was the very first issue I had to deal with in getting my budget to suit my adventurous appetite. I conducted my research and came up with means of getting myself some really cool cheap airfare deals. Ever since I discovered these methods, I have managed to save myself some nice bucks and simply transfer my savings to buying mementoes or dropping it into my piggy bank for the next adventure. Here are some of my golden rules…
Rule No. 1: Respect Proximity When Booking: I always make sure that when I am making my booking, I do so in order to take advantage of the airport nearest to my residence. I have used this rule as the very first because when I realized the amount of dollars it was saving me, I was really shocked. Yes, the cost savings from taking off from the airport closest to you is worth looking at.
Rule No. 2: Take Advantage of Travel Package Offers: My attitude towards travel packages has always been that of caution. This was because of my perception of them as being too expensive until a friend who regularly uses one pointed out its usefulness in terms of costs savings. I did my own research and it checked out. Guess what? I found out that the packages are sometimes even quite less expensive than the airfare itself. Surprising…
Rule No. 3: Book During the Low-Demand Times of the Day: Okay, I am guessing you did not know that airfares are cheaper at certain times of the day. That’s true. Airlines always try to fill up the seats on the planes so they actually change airfares about three times a day. I make sure that I am the first to greet the airline ‘good morning’ on their booking portal as mornings are about the best times of the day to make your reservation in order to get a cheap airfare. If I have to travel on weekends, I discovered that I can get cheap airfare in the morning or if I miss that, in the evening. At either time, their airlines are trying really hard to ensure that the plane flies with full passenger load so they make price concessions and I am just there to take full advantage!
These three simple methods have enabled me to save quite a lot of dollars and feed my adventurous spirit.
